Response to Sen. Schumer's Op Ed on supporting Mukasey

Here's the text of an email I sent Senator Charles Schumer of New York (purportedly, a Democrat) this morning after reading his rationalization for rubber-stamping George W. Bush's nominee for U.S. Attorney General.

Dear Senator Schumer:

Your Op-Ed in The New York Times this morning is repugnant.

You say: "No one questions that Judge Mukasey would do much to remove
the stench of politics from the Justice Department."

Plenty of people question what you claim no one questions. The man
refused to condemn waterboarding as torture and refused to say the
president must obey the law.

How is it beneficial to our country to install Torture Boy II in the
office that the original Torture Boy has vacated? My question to you:
Who's going to remove the stench of politics from your self-serving,
craven, torture-acquiescing cave-in to Bush administration policies?

Mr. Schumer, it's not Republicans that are the problem. There aren't
enough of them to do the damage that's been done to this country.
They couldn't function without the help of unprincipled, calculating
Democratic enablers like yourself.
